# 8. CAPA — Corrective and Preventive Actions

## 8.1 Lifecycle

* Draft → assigned owner and due date
* Open → in progress
* Verification → awaiting evidence / sign-off
* Closed → verified and effective

## 8.2 Hierarchy of Controls

| **Priority (Best to last)** | **Meaning**                                   |
| :-------------------------- | :-------------------------------------------- |
| 1. Elimination              | Remove the hazard completely                  |
| 2. Substitution             | Replace it with something safer               |
| 3. Engineering Controls     | Isolate people from the hazard                |
| 4. Administrative Controls  | Change how people work (procedures, training) |
| 5. PPE                      | Personal Protective Equipment as last line    |
